20/10/08 - Message from the Committee
The president & the Committee of the Sale Swimming Club would like to remind all Club Members that they must be registered with the Sale Swimming Club before they can  participate in training sessions, club nights and swim meets. Like most sporting organisations this is due to the strong public liabilities rules that all clubs must follow.

Thanks, David

Bairnsdale Pre-Season Report

Congratulations, once again, goes to our team of 18 swimmers who attended the Bairnsdale Preseason Meet this weekend.
Sale once again returned home jubilant with, not only 4 Age Group Winners;  14 Firsts, 8 Seconds , 9 Thirds and 47 PB s, but we also had the top scoring female and male overall!

Well done to Megan Keil (8) who took the female honours after winning all her 8&under events, and also to Ian Melrose (11) top male scorer winning all 4 of his 11/12 year events. Not surprisingly they both took away their age group medals, as did Alessia Colombo (9) and Megan Raine (15).

The remaining ribbons were won by David Colombo ( 2nd 50m fly), Megan De Wys ( 2nd 50m Breast), Zoe Henderson ( 3rd 50m Breast), Stephanie Poland (1st 50m Breast, 2nd 50m Free and Back, 3rd 50m Fly), Alexandra Tonkin ( 3rd 50m Back) and James Vandersteen (3rd 50m Breast).

Special mention must also go to Stephanie Poland’s outstanding PB’s taking 17.25secs off  her 100mFree and 2.94 from her 100mBreast. Melanie Smethhurst showed improved form taking an amazing 9.69secs from her 100mBreast and 4.77secs from her 50m Breast. Zoe Henderson also had a good day achieving PB’s in her 100mBreast, 100m Free and 50m Back.

James Vandersteen made a great return after his shoulder injury with a combined PB count of 30.57secs over 7 swims…looks like everything’s working well again then!

Well done to the 3 girls relay teams as well. The 9&under team of Zoe Henderson, Megan Keil, Paegan Hare and Jordan Rowand cruised home to take 1st place ahead of the Trg girls team. The 12&under girls( Stephanie Poland, Melanie Smethhurst, Tahlia Colley and Alessia Colombo) finished in 3rd and the girls open team
( Alexandra Tonkin, Teigan Brown, Megan De Wys and Megan Raine) took 2nd place.

Well done girls! Let’s hope we have a better show of boys at the next meet so we can show off our males talent in the relays.
Well done to all swimmers and coaches you’re all obviously doing a great job!

Donna Rowand

UP COMING SWIM MEETS:

Dear SV Districts and Clubs

I write to inform you about the 2009 All Junior Competition. As you are no doubt aware, the planning for the 2009 All Junior Competition has caused some unprecedented and unexpected challenges to Swimming Victoria.

These challenges have included the following:

  1. ▪       Date change by the 2009 F1 Grand Prix impacting upon the availability of the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC) during March 2009
  2. ▪       Scheduling of other significant events in Geelong (an alternate venue identified for the 2009 Country All Junior Competition) including the Avalon Air Show, Schoolgirls Regatta and a Rotary Conference.
  3. ▪       Significant impact on accommodation availability in Geelong due to the aforementioned events.
  4. ▪       Labour Day Weekend in March 2009
  5. ▪       MSAC unavailable on other dates throughout March and April 2009 due to existing bookings.

Much consultation and discussion about this event has been undertaken this week by the SV Competitions Committee, SV Board Members including Director of Competitions, Director of Metropolitan Swimming and the Director of Country Swimming and SV office staff including the Executive Director and the Event Coordinator.

In an effort to maximise the number of participants due to compete at MSAC for the Metro and Country All Junior Competition for 2009, Swimming Victoria will be conducting both the 2009 Metro and Country All Junior Competition at MSAC on the weekend of 21 & 22 March 2009. The details on how specifically this will occur will be circulated in the coming weeks.

Please communicate the above information to the relevant members and stakeholders within your clubs/district. We will keep you updated on any further information that will arise regarding this event.

Cc: Director of Competitions, Director of Metropolitan Swimming, Director of Country Swimming

Kind regards

Kellie
