Training
Sale Swimming Club offers a tiered training structure compromising of different squads, each of which comprehensively caters for swimmers of different ages and levels of ability.
For an individual to join the Sale Swimming Club, new swimmers need to be assessed by our Head coach so that careful consideration can be given for squad allocation.

Because of this, it is requested that each swimmer consider their willingness and desire to join the Sale Swimming Club and a commitment to the season, to swim either competitively or non-competitively.

Swimmers who attend all the required sessions, do well at competitions and are close to qualifying times may be asked by the Head Coach, to attend extra training sessions to assist in their development.

They may also be asked, under the guidance of the Head Coach to move up squads depending on overall performance. At the commencement with the Sale Swimming Club or when swimmers change squads (usually at start of each school term), an official letter will be sent to individual swimmers, stating squad information including new training times and any information of relevance to their new squad.

The Squad development pathway currently consists of:

  • Foundation Squad: Cygnets
  • Blue Squad
  • Bronze Squad
  • Silver Squad
  • Gold Squad
  • Rose Gold Squad (exclusive group, invitation only)
  • Fitness Squad
  • Masters/ Adult Squad- The Bevy’s

To keep track of training times, training requirements and any possible changes refer to Team App or the SSC notice board situated near pool deck. If you have any other queries, please contact your swimmers’ coach at an appropriate time.

Swimmers are encouraged to attend all their recommended training sessions suggested for their squad. Although training runs through school holidays, sessions may be subject to change due to public holidays, specific school holidays and pool closures. Families will be notified of these changes via Team App.

Training Absence

Sale Swimming Club schedules training and sets fees around the annual budget. Annual training fees are fixed to cover ongoing costs and do not reduce if a swimmer does not attend training due to other weekly commitments or unwillingness to attend.

There are a limited number of circumstances where a non-refundable credit for training fees may be given for the next billing cycle. These circumstances include the following and acceptance of these is at the discretion of the Executive Committee members.

  • Illness or injury lasting for a continuous period of at least 4 weeks and supported by a valid medical certificate. Medical certificate must be forwarded to the Treasurer. Certificates must be provided within 2 weeks of the absence otherwise they will not be considered.
  • Planned absence from squad training for a continuous period of at least 6 weeks. Notification must be given to the Treasurer at least 4 weeks prior to planned absence.
  • Please note that credits will not be applied for missed training sessions during school holidays as Sale Swimming Club continues to train during school holidays.
  • If a swimmer is absent for a prolonged period of time, and has requested a credit towards their training fees, and the family requests a training programme from the coach during this absence, a fee shall be applied as negotiated with the executive to cover the administration costs of providing this programme.

Sale Swimming Club understands that there may be other exceptional personal or family circumstances that may result in a swimmer being absent from training for a period of time. These will be considered by the Executive Committee members on a case by case basis.
